for any blind person, listening to traffic flow while waiting to cross astreet is vital to our safety. Have any of you had any experiences where you did not hear one of those hybrid cars coming, and very nearly ended up getting hurt, or only had a split second to get out of the way? Those cars are so quiet, I don't even remember if I've heard them before. lol i'm asking, because I'm doing a research paper on this very subject, and, apart from the sources I hope to find somewhere, I would like some testimony from people who've experienced the scary side of these vehicles firsthand.

Well, I haven't experienced them in traffic, but my boss has one. She drove around the parking lot at work slowly, and I could barely hear the car. Go to NPR.ORG and type hybrid cars and blind in the search engine or terms like that. They did a story awhile back on them. Also, I think I saw some things in the Braille Monitor on the subject as well.

I had one experience about 2 weeks ago. I was crossing a street and almost got ran over because the car went at the wrong time. My mobility instructer got so pissed at the driver lol. she pulled me back on to the curb, and I almost fell back onto the ground.
